Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 10, 2026
This policy explains how Idea Heron's apps handle your information. It applies to Tremor and to this website.
The short version: Tremor does not track you, does not collect any personal data, and has no analytics, advertising, or third-party SDKs. Your location, if you choose to share it, is used only on your device and never leaves it.
Data collect
None. Tremor does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. Idea Heron does not operate user accounts and has no way to identify you.
Location
Tremor can use your location to center the map on you, show your distance and bearing from an earthquake, and deliver alerts for quakes near you. This is entirely optional — the app works without it.
When granted, your location is used only on your device. It is never sent to Idea Heron or to any third party, and it is not stored beyond what the operating system uses to fulfill these on-device features. You can revoke location access at any time in the iOS or macOS Settings app.
Notifications
If you enable alerts, Tremor uses Apple's notification system to tell you about significant or nearby earthquakes. Notification preferences are stored on your device. No notification data is sent to Idea Heron.
Earthquake data
To show seismic activity, Tremor fetches publicly available earthquake data from third-party feeds: the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), and GeoNet. These are ordinary network requests for public data; Tremor does not send your personal information to these services. To improve place names, Tremor may use Apple's geocoding service, which is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
On-device storage
Tremor stores your app preferences (such as filters, units, and alert settings) and a local cache of recent earthquake events on your device, so the app works quickly and remembers your choices. This data stays on your device and is removed if you delete the app.
Tracking and third parties
Idea Heron does not track you across apps or websites, and never sells or shares your data. Tremor, our app, collects no personal data and contains no advertising, no analytics, and no third-party tracking SDKs. This website uses a privacy-first analytics service (see This website below) that measures aggregate traffic without cookies and without identifying you.
Children's privacy
Idea Heron's apps do not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
This website
IdeaHeron.com uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to see aggregate traffic - things like page views and which sites link to us. It's privacy-first: no cookies, no fingerprinting, no cross-site tracking, and nothing that identifies you personally or builds a profile of you. Because it sets no cookies, you still won't see an annoying cookie prompt.
Visitors in the EU are excluded entirely: the analytics script is never loaded for them, so no data about EU visitors is collected.
Changes to this policy
If this policy is updated, the "Last updated" date above will be revised. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
